Hytec Fluid Technology’s range of Soluble Varnish Removal (SVR™) systems from leading brand Hy-Pro are available throughout Africa. SVR™ offers complete recovery from varnish contamination and maintenance for turbine lubricants and lube oil.

Auto-degradation is plagues gas turbines. Once the additives in turbine oil deplete, the oil becomes saturated with soluble soft contaminants. These contaminants form varnish deposits.

HFT has the solutions for lube oil varnish, including innovative products that are ISO 9001 certified. Advanced media technologies provide a holistic approach to solve lube oil varnish to prevent premature equipment and servo-valve failure, extend fluid life and provide reliability of in-service fluids and systems.

SVR™ removes acid to improve oxidative stability, slow oxidation rate and reduce varnish production. SVR™ Systems feature industry leading filter purification technology for SVR™ soluble varnish removal and varnish prevention.

SVR™ Systems with ICB™ Filters purify turbine and compressor lubricants as well as phosphate ester fluids. ICB™ restores demulsibility during normal turbine operation without damaging additives.

SVR™ can be completely customised to perfect the perfect solution. Work with industry experts to receive comprehensive oil analysis and results interpretation.

SVR™ restores the solubility of the oil by removing the soluble varnish causing contamination that other technologies can't. By restoring solubility SVR™ enables the oil to chemically remove previously formed varnish deposits and reduce MPC varnish potential numbers from condition critical red to condition normal green.

SVR™ Range

HFT offers the complete range of Soluble Varnish Removal systems for all your varnish removal needs.

SVR™ Soluble Varnish Removal skids: Soluble varnish removal SVR™ targets and removes the dissolved varnish pre-cursors which are the cause of varnish. Through particulate removal and by removing waste oxidation by-products, solid varnish deposits can be dissolved back into the oil where they are removed permanently. This also results in long-term varnish prevention. Only SVR™ technology can remove oxidation by-products while still in solution to prevent precipitation and deposit formation in low flow and cool zones (servo valves). SVR™ Systems with ICB™ Filters purify turbine and compressor lubricants as well as phosphate ester fluids.

Varnish Test Kits: Use the Varnish Test Kits for comprehensive oil analysis to identify hydraulic and lube oil reservoirs with a high potential for varnish formation in turbine oil and remove varnish. VTK varnish potential test kits yield Membrane Patch Colorimetric for lube oil varnish potential per ASTM D7843-12. On-site access to laboratory grade testing allows for quicker status reports of analysed fluids and assists in proactive maintenance. VTK has an upgraded spectrometer for ease in testing and accuracy with an expected life cycle of more than 5 years.

TMRN²: This is an active breather system that maintains the air in the headspace of a tank that continuously introduces clean dry Nitrogen. As the dry N² transfers through the headspace, the oil gives up its water striving to achieve equilibrium with the dry Nitrogen. TMRN² reduces and maintains water to <200ppm and prevents airborne water particulate and metal ions from entering the reservoir. It removes combustible dissolved gases and reduces fluid breakdown, for extended fluid life. Nitrogen will remove combustible gases from the oil to reduce oxidation and fluid breakdown.

When combustion and steam turbines fall victim to unit trip or fail-to-start condition varnish is the usual suspect. The mitigation of the effects of turbine lube oil varnish is a solvable issue.

The SVR™ systems are used to keep these industries productive:

  • Pulp & Paper
Servo valve and bearing failures cause unnecessary downtime and expense for paper mills across the world.
  • Plastic Injection Moulding
Varnish deposits and additive depletion cause, not only unplanned downtime, but inferior quality of manufactured parts.
  • Petro-Chemical & Refineries
Varnish problems, high particulate and moisture contamination can lead to failure in critical rotating equipment.
  • Steel & Primary MetalsSophisticated systems are increasingly common in steel and aluminium mills, and servo-valve performance and reliability are critical for profitability.
